Classroom Scheduling

The Office of the Registrar is responsible for assigning all courses and sections to classrooms. After the early registration period, the scheduling coordinator will survey all instructors about their space needs and preferences. Room assignments are based on registration figures, enrollment limits, technology needs and, if possible, instructor preferences.

Classroom Equipment and Technology

For information on classroom equipment and technology or to arrange for special classroom equipment needs, please contact Educational Technology Services (ETS), Classroom, Events & Media Support located in Seelye Hall B8. Call classroom support at 413-585-3474, or email ithelp@smith.edu.

All Registrar classrooms have the following standard technology:

• Projection or a large TV screen
• Classroom computer
• Speakers
• Connections for a laptop or document camera
• Digital touch screen control system

A limited number of classrooms have the following additional technology:

• Microphone optimized to support audio capture at the front the room
• Camera on tripod to allow placement by instructor for recording or Zoom use
• Monitor for instructor to view Zoom participants
• Document camera

Please note:
*Neilson 102 Browsing Room is only available for classroom scheduling 8:00am through 4:00pm Monday and Wednesday.
**Neilson Classrooms do not have a classroom computer. Instructors must bring a laptop if needed.
***Seelye 106 and Young Basement are setup as flexible classrooms and have more than the standard technology setup. It is strongly recommended that instructors meet with a classroom support tech before teaching in this space.
