About Lauryn

Class of 2021

Sessions Complex

Biology (might declare a Chemistry minor, too)

Now located: New Haven, CT

What other activities are you normally involved in?
Gold Key Guide, research in my adviser’s lab, peer adviser/reception assistant at the Lazarus Center, co-treasurer of Asian Students Association

What are you looking forward to when you return to campus?

I’m excited to physically be on campus again. As amazing as it is that we’ve created a remote, yet connected community through online classes and such, I miss walking around Smith’s beautiful campus and around local Northampton, and I miss seeing my friends and mentors in person, rather than through a screen.

“We’re all experiencing similar uncertainties and challenges right now and it helps to get through it together.”

What’s one way that you keep in touch with friends?
I try to make a phone or Zoom call with a friend at least once a day. Sometimes we play the new Animal Crossing game together, too! We’re all experiencing similar uncertainties and challenges right now and it helps to get through it together, rather than in isolation.

Lauryn Aliwalas under the Grecourt Gate with words, “I'm using my Smith voice to give back to the individuals and communities that have supported me.”
