Through an internship in Northampton’s Office of Planning and Sustainability, I worked on the city’s climate resiliency plan. My role was coordinating public engagement for the planning process. I initiated and maintained relationships with local partner organizations to reach marginalized populations who have traditionally been left out of government planning and who feel the impacts of climate change most acutely.

In addition, I helped facilitate two public meetings and led two focus group workshops with local high schoolers and the Northampton Survival Center. It was a fantastic learning experience to be a part of the process from beginning to end—from initial stakeholder meetings in May 2018, to the engagement process in summer and fall 2018, and finally publishing the plan in 2019.
