Samuel Scheer is the author (with Rosetta Marantz Cohen) of two books on education and teaching. His work focuses on urban education and school reform.

In addition to teaching, he has been working as a consultant for the National Math and Science Initiative and Mass Insight, organizations that support urban teachers through professional development.
