Biography
Prior to joining Smith in 2022, Xavier Ramos Olivé was a postdoctoral scholar at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he arrived in 2019 after obtaining a PhD in Mathematics from the University of California, Riverside.
Ramos’ research is in Geometric Analysis, at the interface of Differential Geometry and the study of Partial Differential Equations. He is particularly interested in the study of curvature and its physical and mathematical implications. Some of his contributions have to do with how curvature affects the diffusion of heat on a curved space, or how it affects the sounds that a curved object produces when it vibrates.
