Carrie Fountain

""

“With its wonder at daily living,” poet Ada Limón writes about Carrie Fountain’s most recent collection,“The Life lures you into its quiet world only to ignite in abundance, ferocity, and the aching truth of survival.” Fountain has published two additional books of poetry with Penguin — Instant Winner (2014) and Burn Lake (2010), winner of the 2009 National Poetry Series Award — and is also the author of the YA novel I’m Not Missing (Flatiron Books, 2018). Her first children’s book, The Poem Forest, was published by Candlewick Press in September 2022. She is the recipient of the Marlboro Poetry Prize and Austin Library Foundation’s Award for Literary Excellence, among other honors. In 2019, Fountain was named the Texas State Poet Laureate. Born and raised in Mesilla, New Mexico, she now lives in Austin, Texas, and serves as writer-in-residence at St. Edward’s University.

Carrie Fountain will read on December 6, 2022 at 7 p.m. in Leo Weinstein Auditorium. Livestreams of this reading will be found on Facebook and YouTube.
