The Smith eDigest is sent to all campus email accounts on Tuesday and Thursday each week during the academic year and on Tuesdays during the summer. Items for eDigest are limited to official Smith business and must be submitted by 5 p.m. on the day prior to the next edition’s distribution.

Critical Bounds: Nicole Bearden AC ’19

Nicole Bearden AC ’19 launched the pilot segment of her podcast about contemporary art nine months ago as a final project for a Smith class. A recent Helen Gurley Brown Magic Grant from the college is helping Bearden expand her work on “Critical Bounds.”

Preparing for the Census

The 2020 census is coming, and Smith hopes its students will be counted. Students are invited to an information session to be held Tuesday, March 3, at 5 p.m. in Room 205 of the Campus Center.

Real-World Science: Smith Will Host Fairs

On two Saturdays this spring, the campus will be filled with aspiring middle and high school scientists, as Smith for the first time hosts the Western Massachusetts Science and Engineering Fairs. Smith student volunteers have been busy designing activities aimed at making the fair a memorable experience for participants.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi—whose long and distinguished career in public service has helped shape and define women’s leadership—will deliver the address at Smith College’s commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 17.

The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

Smith Dining Services thought the sandwich offerings on campus needed a little makeover, so they put a call out to dining staff to come up with some scrumptious ideas—and they delivered! Smith staff from various departments willingly volunteered to be judges.
