Resource Center for Sexuality & Gender

Lanterns on Illumination night create one example of rainbow imagery at Smith.

The Resource Center for Sexuality & Gender (RCSG), overseen by the Office for Equity and Inclusion, provides educational programming, activities and meetings for students, faculty and staff. The center provides a safe space where gender and sexuality may be discussed in an open and accepting environment. It seeks to foster understanding of the diverse meanings and expressions of sexuality and gender and the intersection of sexuality, gender, class and race, as well as other social identities.

Visit the Center

Everyone is invited to the RCSG! Smith students, faculty, and staff with a valid OneCard can access the Center from 7 a.m. to midnight. Guests attending a meeting, event or program in the RCSG will find the door unlocked for them. Students, organizations, departments and offices may reserve the center to host programs focused on topics of gender and sexuality.

Oversight

The RCSG is co-coordinated by Raven Fowlkes-Witten and Toby Davis of the Office for Equity and Inclusion, as well as a student program coordinator.

Advisory Board

Established in 2005, the advisory board of the RCSG is a group of faculty, staff and students representing the RCSG Orgs working together to help bring the mission of the RCSG to fruition.

Meetings

The advisory board meets at least twice a semester and discusses ways to help the students and student organizations associated with the space with programs, projects and policies as they relate to the center.
