Biography
Sari Fein teaches on the Hebrew Bible and early Judaism. Her particular areas of speciality include constructions of women and gender, biblical and early Jewish family structures, Christian-Jewish interaction in Late Antiquity, and early Jewish synagogue art. She recently completed her doctoral studies at Brandeis University. Her dissertation is entitled “Conceiving Motherhood: The Reception of Biblical Mothers in the Early Jewish Imagination.”
Additionally, Fein holds a master of theological studies in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament from Harvard Divinity School and master’s in special education from CUNY Hunter College. At Brandeis, Fein has taught in the Near Eastern and Judaic studies department as a university prize instructor and in the university writing program. She has published on topics ranging from Margaret Atwood and the Bible, to material culture and women’s religious experience in antiquity.
