Biography
Madelyn Sher is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, producer and New York City native. She creates dance performances that blend contemporary dance, butoh, house, improvisation and theater. Her choreography has been presented at various theaters and public spaces in New York City.
As a dancer, she has performed with REDi Dance Company, evan ray suzuki, Vangeline Theater, Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet, Amirov Dance Theater, Molly Gorin, Svea Schneider, Ni’Ja Whitson and others. As an actor, Madelyn had her TV debut in ABC’s “The Baker and the Beauty,” which rose to popularity as the number one show on Netflix in spring 2021. She also acts in modern adaptations of fairy tales with the Bronx Arts Ensemble/Lehman Children's Theater Company. Madelyn’s short dance film, Looking Inwood, won her the Promising Filmmaker Award at CUNY Film Festival 2018.
In 2021 she choreographed music videos for musical artists Noah Chenfeld and Death Habit. A co-producer of Groundswell Series, an annual outdoor site-specific dance festival, she values public, accessible art as a vehicle for community engagement, arts appreciation, and environmental awareness. Madelyn has worked in New York City schools and arts programs for the past six years, teaching and assisting dance, drama, and music classes.
