Observing Indigenous Peoples’ Day, October 9, 2020

Dear students, staff and faculty:

This year and going forward, the fall holiday for staff, which occurs during Fall Break, will be renamed Indigenous Peoples’ Day. This coming Monday, Smith will join municipalities and organizations across the United States in observing Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a commemoration of the history and legacy of Native peoples in this country and an opportunity to demonstrate solidarity and support for Indigenous peoples. Here is a resource from the National Museum of the American Indian for ways to observe Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
