Recognizing Your Dedication

Letters to the Community
January 19, 2021

Dear staff and faculty,

We are ten months into the pandemic, and staff and faculty continue to work tirelessly to support the education of our students. Despite the post-holiday surge in COVID-19 cases, the spring looks bright as we anticipate the arrival of the vaccine, prepare to welcome students back to campus and complete the renovation of Neilson Library. While budgetary uncertainty remains, we nevertheless, write with good news about compensation.

First, all employees within collective bargaining units will receive negotiated wage increases.

Second, all benefits-eligible employees not in collective bargaining units with a start date prior to January 1, 2021, will receive a one-time payment of $500 after taxes. The payment will be delivered as a direct deposit or check depending on how employees have opted to receive paychecks.

Employees will see these funds in their February 5 paychecks.

We want to extend our gratitude for the tremendous work and effort each of you has done to create and foster a safe environment, to build community despite the challenges and to ensure that students can learn and thrive.

Sincerely,

Kathleen McCartney
