Work Available in August 2022—Come Back Early and Work for Dining

Dining Services is looking for dishwashers to work during the student early arrival period August 21-September 5. Students must work a minimum of 15 hours per week and work through September 5. Room and Board is included and you will be assigned to your academic year room. If you are interested in working for us at any time during this period please fill out the Interest in Summer Work 8/22-9/5 form.

Smith Dining Services is Hiring for Fall 2022

Looking for a job this fall? Join the Dining Services Team! We are looking for Smith Students to work in all dining locations starting in September. Work-Study requirements will be considered first for hiring. All students are welcome to apply. Job Descriptions

All jobs are subject to changes without notice. All students must practice good personal hygiene and comply with public health standards and college policies. Closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times.

Dishwasher

Maintains and monitors assigned dish pantry area and dining room to ensure that dishes are properly stocked at all times. Washes all dishes, glasses and tableware, including scraping, sorting and stacking dishes. Cleans and maintains dish machines as needed. Works alongside other student workers to ensure that safe and sanitary work habits prevail. Checks with dining staff to ensure all assignments are being completed and completes any other tasks assigned.

Pot Washer

Cleans and sanitizes pots and pans used in food production. Maintains the pot sink area by keeping the three-compartment sink filled with clean water (changed as needed), fills sinks with sanitizing solution and dries and puts away all pots and pans in the correct location. Works with kitchen staff to ensure that safe and sanitary work habits prevail.

Checks with dining staff to ensure all assignments are being completed and completes any other tasks assigned.

Door Checker

Ensures that all dining room guests are properly checked in using the OneCard system. Welcomes guests and examines OneCards to verify customer identification. Collects guest meal money as needed. Records meal counts accurately. Strives to provide outstanding customer service. Assists the dining room coordinator in any assignments as needed, including wiping tables, washing dishes, refilling food and cleaning. Works with kitchen staff to ensure that safe and sanitary work habits prevail. Checks with dining staff to ensure all assignments are being completed and completes any other tasks assigned.

Runner

Assists the dining room coordinator in keeping the serving lines stocked with food, dishware and other supplies. Helps with the set-up and breakdown of the serving lines. Assists in any assignments as needed, including wiping tables, washing dishes, refilling food and cleaning. Strives to provide outstanding customer service. Works with kitchen staff to ensure that safe and sanitary work habits prevail. Checks with dining staff to ensure all assignments are being completed and completes any other tasks assigned.


Spot Jobs for Catering

For those students looking for spot jobs, the catering department might be just the fit for you. Working in catering is fast-paced and fun; positions include banquet servers, kitchen preps, event servers and many other exciting offerings.

The catering department is based out of the Comstock/Wilder kitchen, but jobs take place all over campus.

Campus Center Café Shifts

For those students who enjoy working directly with customers in a retail environment, the Café offers a variety of jobs, which include front-of-the-house positions, catering, prepping food and setting up events.

  • Speak with one of our dining room staff to see if there are any openings.
