Resources
To apply branding standards consistently requires resources. From access to the larger set of guidelines to the various logo files, the resources publicly accessible to offices and departments can be found here. Some resources require a discussion with college relations staff. Where this is the case, it is noted.
Files available for download on this page require you to be actively logged in to your Smith College email account.
Brand Guidelines
A booklet explaining the ins and outs of the Smith College identity, the Smith College Brand Guidelines is an essential resource for offices actively involved in producing outward-facing communications and publications for the college. From fonts to colors to messaging and photo composition, this booklet covers it.

Email Signature
The college recommends signature formats in the interests of promoting a consistent style and feel. In the interests of inclusion, the addition of a pronoun line is encouraged for community members who wish to self-identify. Please refer to the preferred listing formats:
Without Pronouns
Jane Doe
Program Coordinator
College Relations
30 Belmont Avenue
413-585-2180
publications@smith.edu
With Pronouns
Jane Doe
Pronouns: (they/them/theirs)
Program Coordinator
College Relations

publications@smith.edu
In cases where the office or department name is included in the title, omit that line for a cleaner, concise presentation. Name pronunciation badges, such as through NameCoach, may be included either immediately to the right of the name (preferred), or immediately below the name. Proximity to the name is important for these badges to function as intended.

Campus Photography
The college maintains two photography archives. The public access archive is a small collection of photos that have rights clearance. There is also a larger archive of photos specifically for Smith College uses, which you need permission to access. Contact publications@smith.edu to discuss whether the larger archive is right for your needs.
Smith Style Guide
The Smith Style Guide is a writing reference for Smith-specific words and phrases and for maintaining consistency in college communications. It also guides users with general rules about usage, punctuation and capitalization.
