Endowed gifts exist in perpetuity, extending and growing the impact of each gift. A gift you make today to the endowment will benefit students for generations to come. It is one of the most powerful ways to show your support for the students of today and tomorrow.

Named Endowed Scholarship Funds

By expanding our access to scholarship aid, we can provide sustainable funding that will strengthen the college and that will support students from all backgrounds in perpetuity.

  • Full Endowed Scholarship Fund
$1 million or more to generate approximately the income required to cover the cost of tuition for a student receiving full financial aid. An endowed gift of $1.5 million or more generates approximately the annual income required to cover the cost of tuition, room and board. Donors may specify certain broad preferences for recipients such as majors, Ada Comstock Scholars, international students or other key demographics.
  • Partial Endowed Scholarship Fund
$250,000 or more to generate income toward financial aid grants. Donors may specify certain broad preferences as described above.
  • Unrestricted Endowed Scholarship Fund
$150,000 or more to support students with demonstrated financial need as determined by the college.

Here for Every Voice Gift Matching Challenge

A generous alumna has anonymously pledged $10 million to support student scholarships at Smith and inspire others to increase their support through the Here for Every Voice Gift Matching Program.

How the Program Works

Gifts above $100,000 to either establish a new endowed scholarship fund or add to an existing endowed scholarship fund will be matched, increasing the value of the fund and maximizing its impact.

Planned Giving: NEW Grécourt Match

A generous member of the class of 1982 has committed $1 million for financial aid to inspire others to make planned gifts to Smith.

Make a new planned gift and your gift will be matched with an immediate donation to financial aid. Planned gifts include those created through a will, living trust, retirement plan or life insurance policy. Planned gifts also include gift annuities that can provide an income stream to the donor or a designee. With the new Grécourt Match, every $10 of your planned gift will be matched by $1, up to $10,000.

Your planned gift can be for any purpose, although financial aid is especially welcome.

STEP UP Challenge for Reunion Classes

Smith is challenging classes in the Milestone Reunion cycle (1998–2002 or 1988–1992) to increase giving participation in the current fiscal year (which ends June 30, 2023) and receive a generous gift in return. When your class increases overall giving participation by at least 15 percent, it will receive $150,000 to establish an unrestricted class-endowed scholarship fund (or add to an existing one). Gifts of any size to any designation count.

Giving Circles

Here for Every Voice Giving Circles allow a group of donors to come together and collectively endow a scholarship fund. By joining together, donors make a powerful difference in the lives of students—and cement long-lasting relationships with each other and with the college.

“I hope that donors continue to support financial aid so that students like me will feel that people believe in us and so that we can succeed no matter where we came from.”
