Each year, approximately 100 men and women pursue advanced degrees or special programs at Smith, adding to the diversity, breadth of experience and intellectual energy on campus. An emphasis on independent research along with advanced coursework, with opportunities in a wide variety of fields.

Master of Fine Arts in Dance

A two-year program specializing in choreography and performance, with all students gaining experience as teaching fellows.

Master of Science in Exercise & Sport Studies

An interdisciplinary program devoted exclusively to the practice of intercollegiate coaching of women's teams.

Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting

Collaborate with designers, performers and directors to gain a comprehensive understanding of the playwriting process.

Master of Social Work

Specialize in clinical theory and practice while gaining an understanding of the sociocultural, social service and policy context of practice.

Master of Arts in Teaching

Prepare to teach at the elementary, middle, or high school level, supported by practical, real-world experience.

Ph.D. of Social Work

Prepare to lead in advanced clinical social work theory and practice.

Interdisciplinary Studies Diploma Program

A one-year program serving postgraduate or advanced undergraduate international exchange students.

Mathematics Postbaccalaureate Program

Spend a semester or year at Smith to become ready for pursuing an advanced degree in mathematics.

Summer Education Courses for Teachers

Graduate courses during the summer are available to M.A.T. students, area teachers and those studying education at other institutions.
